Todd has been a slave to the horror genre for as long as he can remember. After cutting his teeth on late-night Cinemax schlock and the low-budget offerings found on the classic USA program "Up All Night," our hero moved valiantly into the world of sleazy obscura, consuming the oddest films from around the world with the reckless abandon of a man without fear or reason. When he isn't sitting mindlessly in front of a television set, he can be found stuffing music, video games, and various literary scribblings into his already cluttered mindscape.

Fans of director Adam Green have reason to be extra happy this morning. Anchor Bay has announced that they will release the ski slope shocker "Frozen" on DVD and Blu-ray this September. Although the premise sounds a little goofy, the film looks absolutely fantastic. Personally, I can't wait.

IFC will unleash director Stuart Hazeldine's psychological thriller "Exam" to VOD on July 23rd. The film in question looks like a peculiar mix of "Saw" and "Cube", with a bit of David Fincher thrown in for good measure. However, depending on who you are, this might not be a recipe for delicious cinematic success.

In order to get misshapen butts into theater seats, Dimension is promoting Piranha 3D with a series of posters featuring the several scantily-clad women on a boat. Isn't this supposed to be a horror movie? I know genre fans are unnaturally obsessed with naked women, but this just sad. And people wonder why I'm not overly excited about this one.

Horror Headlines: Thursday July 1st, 2010

Gilmore Girls alumni Lauren Graham has decided that Wes Craven's upcoming "Scream 4" is no longer something she's interested in. Actress Lake Bell also left the project last week, leaving me to wonder what the hell is wrong with this movie.

In remake knews, more details are starting to emerge about the forthcoming "It" remake, a project I'm particularly excited about. Although I might be crucified for saying as much, the original really isn't that scary, and the material could certainly use an update. Let the flames begin.

Because the entire world wants it, Sony Stage 6 is preparing to shoot "Hostel: Part III" this August. The feature will be directed by Scott Spiegel, the man responsible for the grossly underrated slasher "Intruder". I'm sure you're as excited as everyone else about this project.

Although "Survival of the Dead" is a marginal film, that hasn't stopped Magnet from packing the upcoming DVD with a ton of enticing extras. Fine and dandy, but no thanks.

If you've ever wondered what your favorite Star Wars characters would look like as monsters, your dreams have been answered. My inner nerd isn't sure if this is insanely cool or outrageously blasphemous.

Former 80's pop stars Debbie Gibson and Tiffany will star in the original SyFy movie "Mega Python vs. Gatoroid", an event which may signal the end of times. The film is scheduled to air sometime next year.

Horror Headlines: Thursday June 17th, 2010

Brace yourselves, kids: Konami has released an extended trailer for the highly-anticipated "Silent Hill 8", a franchise that desperately needs a hit. I'll be the first to admit there was quite a bit of butt-clenching going on. Those games scare the hell out of me. Seriously.

Sick of documentary-style horror flicks? If so, perhaps the upcoming Chinese genre outing "31 Degrees North Latitude" isn't the film for you. The plot: Scientists venture into the wildnerness to unravel the mystery behind a local legend. Why, that doesn't sound familiar at all!

Once upon a time, I complained about a serious lack of horror/westerns. Now that I've seen the trailer for "The Dead and the Damned", I'm officially retracting my complaint. Please, for the love of God, stop making horror/westerns, especially ones that feature zombies. That includes you, Romero.

Those of you who are still waiting for "Predators" to make its mark in theaters this summer might want to have a gander at this impossibly large gallery of images, many of which include pictures of the titular beasts themselves. As cool as these pictures may be, I shall retain my chin-scratching skepticism.
