Horror Icon Mini-Marathon: MARY LAMBERT

Though women are the primary on-screen stars of both the music video and horror film industries, it is a much different story behind the camera. Female directors are a much smaller percentage than should be represented by population or by talent. One woman filmmaker who was able to carve out a successful career in both was director Mary Lambert.

If you plan on giving up watching Syfy movies for the New Year you might want to check out the new clips from "Mega Python vs. Gatoroid" first. I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is going to be the greatest movie they've ever made. That's a tall order I know but it does have Debbie Gibson and Tiffany.

Danielle Harris is back my friends with "Shiver" and I am just tickled pink. The movie is about a secretary who's being stalked by a serial killer who has to fight for her life. I hope it has singing, that Harris has got a heart of gold that I know it's just waiting to get out. I don't even think I'm being sarcastic.

It's what the kids call a "slow day" around here at the BGH newsroom so here's a trailer for "Devil in Baby Joan" which is pretty much a "The Last Exorcism" knock off but it doesn't look awful. At the very least it's got some really nice looking title animations. So that's something, huh?

And because one of you did something very very wrong this year and we all need to be punished here's the On Demand trailer for "Hatchet 2". It's a trailer for the movie to let us all know that it's going to be On Demand. I probably didn't need to explain that though.

If you're going to try to rob a place with an iPhone maybe think about someplace other than a restaurant. Or really any place where people might have knives or any other sort of weapon which could be used in defense of an iPhone. Just a thought.

This is kind of heartwarming isn't it. A man in Massachusetts who ordered 178 pizzas as a prank eventually changed his mind and paid in full for the little stunt. I have no idea what he did with all of them but I sure do like pizza, even if it's a few days old. Hint hint.

Although "Survival of the Dead" is a marginal film, that hasn't stopped Magnet from packing the upcoming DVD with a ton of enticing extras. Fine and dandy, but no thanks.

If you've ever wondered what your favorite Star Wars characters would look like as monsters, your dreams have been answered. My inner nerd isn't sure if this is insanely cool or outrageously blasphemous.

Former 80's pop stars Debbie Gibson and Tiffany will star in the original SyFy movie "Mega Python vs. Gatoroid", an event which may signal the end of times. The film is scheduled to air sometime next year.

In Real People News:

If delivering mail wasn't perilous enough, seagulls have begun savagely attacking Royal Mail employees, which has disrupted service in some areas of England. Alfred Hitchcock always new this would happen.

It's official: Candy cigarettes are now illegal. I guess kids will just have to buy a pack of smokes, instead.

On this day in history:

1947 - Pilot Kenneth Arnold has a run-in with several mysterious flying saucers near Mt. Ranier, Washington.
