the house of the devil

Ti West sounds like a rapper's name and for that reason I hate him. Now that we've gotten that out of the way here's the latest trailer for the directors new movie "The Innkeepers". The story revolves around two innkeepers who are determined to prove their inn is haunted before it closes its doors after being open for 100 years. It wouldn't hurt to toss in some bling and girls in booty shorts Ti. I'm just saying.

Norway is so hot right now. Not literally, I bet it's cold as hell over there right now. If you need proof just check out the trailer for "Dunderland" a new flick from the great fjords that follows a group of actors as they uncover the witchy secrets of an old abandoned Boy Scout camp. And by "Boy Scout" I assume they mean trolls because we all know Norway is 75% troll and 35% black metal fans. That's just simple math.

George R. R. Martin, author of "Games of Thrones", has made it ok for grown men to run around dressed up like they work at Medieval Times and not be mocked. For that I am pretty disappointed in him. But I love the show and in turn I am now excited to see that his book series "Wild Cards", which shows the effects of a alien virus outbreak in NYC, will be coming to the big screen.

If you're excited for the next installment of "The Chronicles of Riddick" series then you might be in trouble. Production on the film has been shut down in Montreal because One Race Films, which is owned by star Vin Diesel, have failed to pay for the studio where the film is being shot. If I was Vin I could blow something up then look at the camera and say "Check's in the mail" in a real bad ass voice. What am I saying, Vin Diesel only has one voice, bad ass.

There's been a lot of talk about "Scream IV" as of late but according to Wes Craven via his twitter, he still hasn't signed to direct the film. "I'm still in talks but nothing has been finalized." You'd think that would be high on the list of things to get done when they started discussing a fourth film with him.

Starting this weekend, you'll have a new place to find some horror on your cable dial. MTV will start a weekly horror block every Saturday night at 10pm. The new programming kicks off this weekend with "Land of the Dead" which will be followed by "The Hills Have Eyes" remake, "The House of the Devil" and more.

In case you've forgotten, Rob Zombie has directed an episode of "CSI: Miami" which will be airing soon. In a recent interview, the director showed off a new trailer for the episode and made comments that he's not sure how much TV he will direct since he's geared more towards movies. In Rob Zombie interview speak, that means he'll be directing an entire season of "CSI: Rednecks" by next fall.

Anyone who has suffered through any of my reviews on this site is probably aware of the fact that modern mainstream horror and I simply do not get along. In fact, I'm so brutally disenchanted with the genre right now that I often wonder why, exactly, I continue to waste my precious time and remaining brain cells on films that do nothing more than insult my intelligence. Perhaps this jaded point-of-view is true source of my recent cinematic funk, derailing the respective experiences long before the opening credits begin to roll.

There's been a lot of buzz around the film "The House Of The Devil" and after showing at numerous festival it finally gets a release date this weekend, even if it is a limited one. So in honor of that the writer and director of the film, Ti West, will take part in a live twitter chat this coming Thursday from 11 to 12pm PST. Question one, what the hell kind of name is Ti? From there I am pretty open.
