Book Vs Television: The Strain S1:E3 The Third Rail

Another week of “The Strain,” another debate with the mister about whether it should have been a movie instead of a TV show. Where the former might have gotten some critical details squeezed out, the latter continues to get away with not-quite-enough exposition each week. It’s still hurting the show’s overall effectiveness, in my opinion, but more on that shortly.

Book Vs Television: The Strain S1:E2 The Box

The second episode of FX’s The Strain picks up immediately from where we last left it, opening to Gus the hustler transporting the Master’s coffin across the river. Though the episode begins delving deeper into the “virus” itself – and, more enlighteningly, its potential commercial and political implications on one of the world’s largest cities – the plot plods at a pace nearly rivaling Gus Van Sant’s Last Days. Whereas the book’s monolithic, apolocalyptic atmosphere loomed high, the show has thus far largely missed the mark.

Interviews: Dee Wallace talks "Hansel & Gretel"

In the event you didn’t already know, Dee Wallace is a delight. Attaining popularity through performances in a number of now classic horror films, The Hills Have Eyes and The Howling just for starters, Dee has become one of the totemic genre stars. Her personae is tender, dynamic, and entirely specific to her personality; complete with a comedic sense of self-deprecation and a natural confidence that permeates her roles and extending toward her work as acting coach. Dee was generous enough to give us some time to discuss her career, her latest role in the Asylum mock-buster Hansel and Gretel, and what she hopes to see herself doing in the future.

Andy_BGH: You’ve maintained an incredibly prolific career, consistently working in television and film for roughly 35 years. And while there are certain similarities between the two mediums they also hold their own unique set of challenges. As an actress, how have you seen these challenges change over the course of your career? Has the transition between the two been something that came naturally to you?

Two New Clips From "Dexter"

If you didn't catch the premier of "Dexter" this past Sunday you missed out. Not only because we got two serious shots of John Lithgow's ass but also because things got pretty intense in the last ten minutes. I won't spoil it for those of you who didn't watch yet. Pretty awesome all around though.

Eureka 3.18: "What Goes Around, Comes Around"

A lot has happened this season on Eureka. To be honest I don’t even remember what the season premiere was about anymore so much has gone on. The few months that the show took off didn’t help that though. Well after people joining and leaving the cast, a baby being born and a space craft landing we finally found ourselves at the season finale. But after so much had happened throughout the season the big question on my mind was what could they do to finish it off?

Two New Clips From The Premier Of "Dexter"

It's fall time and I couldn't be more excited to see all my favorite shows coming back into swing. Between "Dexter" and "Dancing With The Stars" I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in weeks because of the anticipation. It's getting a bit out of control.

Eureka 3.17: "Have an Ice Day"

Never let it be said that Eureka is big on giving away details. Two weeks ago we were treated to a shitty clip show and after taking a week off I assumed that was our season finale. Not so, apparently. Friday night my DVR was all ablaze and Eureka was back in full force. This week's episode titled “Have An Ice Day” marked the return of Taggart , Jo’s ex-boyfriend as well as Zane, Jo’s current boyfriend who has been away for the past two months. Drama!
