Horror Headlines: Tuesday February 15th, 2011

I'm happy to be able to bring you all this important news today because I know how long you've all been waiting for this announcement; Fox Home Entertainment is making Wrong Turn 4. They're making a drastic turn in plot this time as we follow a group of snowboarders who get lost in blizzard and make a 'wrong turn'. Riveting, I can't wait!

Jason Mewes is making a name for himself in low budget horror, this time facing off against sea men. Oh wait, that's "The Watermen". Leading a bunch of friends on a million dollar dream boat for some deep sea fishing seems out of character for Mewes. His character name "Trailor" seems pretty fitting though.

John Landis spills the beans on an upcoming book he's working on with DK Publishing called "Monsters in the Movies". "It’s not about horror films, but it is about monsters in the movies so that means horror films, science fiction films, fantasy films—any film with a monster."

There's more zombies coming to your TV! The CW feels the need to jump on to the bandwagon with a pilot for "Awakening". The story centers on two combative sisters who come of age amid the beginning of a zombie uprising, so it should have loads of customary CW sassy-ness and a faboo fashion sense!

In Real People News:

Since it's award season, I figured I would throw out one of my own to be festive. Therefore, the winner for most creative way to get out of paying for a pizza goes to; this New Orleans man who threw a cup of bleach into the delivery man's eyes, temporarily blinded him, and snatched his pizza! Your move, pizza guy!

These Miami pot growers were doing good keeping their operation under wraps. Then their grow lights overloaded the power in the house, causing an explosion that blew the roof off the building exposing their crop to God and everybody.

Netherbeast Incorporated (REVIEW)

With films like "Machete" hitting it big this summer, the term 'ensemble cast' has been thrown around quite a bit. An assemblage of a few well-known an often hilariously mismatched actors can sell just about any premise. In the case of "Netherbeast Incorporated," it may be a stretch to say that it features an ensemble cast in the most traditional sense, but without the hodge-podge of established comedic actors and candidates for the "Where are they now?" list, I doubt that many people would bother giving this office comedy with an undead twist a chance.

Horror Headlines: Wednesday August 11th, 2010

"Automaton Transfusion" director Steven C. Miller talks about his entry for the new "After Dark Originals" line, "Scream of the Banshee". Starring Lauren Holly, the film is described as an old school monster movie and hopes to be the anchor to the new addition to the "After Dark 8 Films to Die For" family.

I'm sure you've been waiting for the return of the lesser known Duff sister Haley to the big screen. Worry no more as Haley Duff is in talks to star in the upcoming thriller "Cousin Sarah", a story of somebody's weird cousin moving to town where unexplained events start happening. Here's hoping her already signed co-star Jason Mewes lands the title roll of 'Cousin Sarah'.

The official plot details for Kevin Smith's upcoming "Red State" have appeared online and it looks passable! Centered around a Fred Phelps like evangelist, the movie hopes to show a new kind of 'extreme fundamentalism'.

Are you a big fan of Netflix and their handy streaming video service? Get ready to like it even more as the company has struck a deal with Paramount, Lionsgate and MGM Studios. Quite simply, there's going to be even more fun stuff to watch while wasting time at work!

In Real People News:

An Auckland woman left her infant in the bath in hopes that he would drown, due to her claims of being unable to cope with two children. After pulling his body from the bath, she made sure to login to Facebook and do some web surfing before bothering to tell her husband that their baby had died.

A British woman on vacation in the Swiss Alps decided it would be fun to take a tour of the Gorges Alpins, a popular route that is traversed by rope bridges and zip lines. The group had a lot of fun until the woman decided she didn't need to use the safety rope used for braking on the zip lines and slammed face first into the side of a cliff, killing her instantly.
