host 2

Horror Headlines: Monday October 22nd, 2010

If you saw one supernatural horror film this past weekend there is a solid chance it was "Paranormal Activity 2". The film had the highest-grossing opening weekend ever for the sub-genre with a chicken foot shattering $41.5 million. I know five naughty little podcasters who saw it and will be recording a show for it this week. See how that tied in? Wasn't that nice?

In honor of "The Walking Dead" finally hitting AMC this coming weekend the good people behind the series have released some new behind the scenes photos. The show looks awesome and I have nothing bad or sarcastic to say, which is strange and confusing to me. Thanks AMC, you made me hit puberty again.

For those of you waiting with baited breath for "Host 2" to be released you can now officially wet yourself because the sequel is going to be released in 3D! But now that you're all excited I should also mention that the 3D conversion will delay the film's release as well as change the overall logistics. Waaah!

Steven Spielberg has confirmed that he will be bringing "Robopocalypse" to the big screen in 2013. The film is based on a book by Daniel H. Wilson and focuses on the fate of humans after the robot uprising. Hopefully there will also be robot cops because I keep reading the title as "RoboCopOcalypse".

On this day in history:

1938 - The Archbishop of Dubuque, the Most Reverend Francis J.L. Beckman, denounces the newfangled Swing music -- the latest craze -- as nothing more than "a degenerated musical system... turned loose to gnaw away the moral fiber of young people." Its cannibalistic rhythms are said to lead one down the "primrose path to Hell."

Horror Headlines: Tuesday July 28th, 2009

A new movie is in production based on the book "Kong: King of Skull Island", a prequel to "King Kong" that was released around the time of Peter Jackson's 2006 adaptation. Apparently it deals with how the giant became "king" of Skull Island (I guess that's self explanatory). Not sure how the story works with a bunch of apes and dinosaurs, but I'm sure there are some annoying humans in there somewhere.

Word coming out of Japan is that "The Host 2" has found some investors, although they're still trying to decide between multiple scripts that have been written.

Poster for the indie "All About Evil", starring Natasha Lyonne, about a young woman who inherits her family's theater chain and brings it back to life with a series of "all too real" grisly, gory short films.

In Real People News:

If you're going to brutally attack your neighbor and cut off his head, at least have the courtesy to put it in the recycling bin when you're done. That's just common sense, folks.

This story is amazing. Apparently Charles Manson is stalking Phil Spectre in prison, trying to get him to produce his music. I'm literally speechless.

On this day in history:

1870: Andrew Carr is hanged at Richmond Prison, Dublin. He is dropped from too high, causing his head to separate from the rest of his body -- the greater portion of which twitches for several minutes.
