beer

So now that I've made you all beer experts, you're welcome by the way, I thought it would be nice to explore some of the more unusual ingrediants that brewers are using out there. If you've ever heard someone rant about the big breweries you've probably heard the term "adjuncts" tossed around. They're pretty much any unmalted grain that gets added to a beer, often things like rice or corn that are used to cut costs. In some regions of Bavaria still follow the Reinheitsgebot, a law that dates back to the 16th century that states beer can only be made with water, barley and hops.

If you had the pleasure of being at Horror Hound Weekend last March you may have gotten some video of a bunch of guys dressed up like monsters juggling fire in the courtyard of the hotel. It was an amazing sight. If you have a video of this happening you may also be in for another treat if you turn the volume way up. You may get to hear a jackass screaming Rusted Root’s "Send Me On My Way" in the background. That jackass is me, I like to sing when I get drunk.

There's something inherently manly about drinking a big ass pint of stout. Even someone like myself who prides himself on not being a beer snob feels a certain sense of superiority when I'm standing in a bar full of "men" drinking Bud Lights while I'm hoisting up a big meaty glass of full on pitch black beer goodness. And by no means do I mean this to be sexist. If you're a gal who enjoys knocking back a few stouts then I solute you and also ask this question. What brand of tampon did you just send your husband/boyfriend out to buy for you?

It’s that time of year again kids and I couldn’t be more excited. For us horror geeks it’s a time where we crack open all of our favorite flicks and go nutty for a full month. For beer geeks it’s the time of year when some of the best seasonal beers hit the shelves and everyone straps on some lederhosen to celebrate Oktoberfest. All in all for a guy like me it’s pretty much heaven for 31 days. It's also a great time to sound like a obnoxious prick by repeatedly pointing out that Oktoberfest is actually in September, but that's a different post.

So October is coming to a close and Saturday you‘ll probably be out at a party dressed as a farm animal trying to get your swerve on with a hooker vampire. It’s beautiful really. But what kind of beer will you be drinking? Here’s a few suggestions that might help your liver get in the Halloween spirit with you.

We get requests to promo stuff pretty often, which are usually met with a healthy dose of snarky indifference. However, we are occasionally surprised with something really cool, and we got a tip from the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin Texas about some awesome posters for upcoming film screenings (above and left). The "Night of the Creeps" screening will also apparently be included in the DVD extras for the upcoming release of that film, so if you're in the area, be sure to check that out.

The first teaser trailer for [REC]2 has arrived and it's a doozy! It looks like more of the same, but there is definitely some good action going here. Later in the day three clips were posted from the new film that are notable for a complete lack of excitement.

Tobin Bell confirms there is an eighth "Saw" movie planned and doesn't deny a ninth. He also failed to acknowledge the dead horse in the room that he was continually beating during the interview. Bell next's reprisal of his Jigsaw role is in the upcoming "Saw" video game, now being shown at E3.

Marking yet another promising creative team to leave the franchise, "Martyrs" director Pascal Laugier is no longer helming the "Hellraiser" remake. There was no reason given but it seems that this remake is quickly becoming a comedy of errors.

In bizarro reboot news, Courtney Cox-Arquette and David Arquette have signed on to the "Scream" reboot. Earlier rumors also pointed to Jamie Kennedy reprising his role. Could this be a first: a remake with the same cast? Do-over!

The first shots of Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex arrive online. They seem rather subdued when compared to the Thomas Jane pics that surfaced last year before Brolin was cast.
