The Lords of Salem (REVIEW)

Lords of Salem

Give Rob Zombie some credit, he tries so hard in “The Lords of Salem.” He tries to step outside of the comfortable stereotypes that were a big part of his previous films, and he wants you to see all the influences he’s pulling from--Polanski and Kubrick, among others. We know he’s done his homework as a filmmaker, but along the way he forgot to put it all together into a cohesive storyline. As a result, “The Lords of Salem” is a colorful and interesting film, but ultimately an unsuccessful one.

A Conversation With and About Witchcraft

Witchcraft is a band borne from obscurity that has worked diligently to popularize the musical principles they idolize. Always evolving and forever toiling, Witchcraft has put their nose to the grindstone to bring to the world a nearly lost art; atmospheric, doom-influenced rock in the style of the late seventies and early eighties. We sat down bassist Ola Henriksson to talk about the band, where they've been and how they got there.

Album Review: Witchcraft - "Legend"

For a band that’s been around more than a dozen years, there’s precious little information available about Witchcraft. Allmusic offers only a couple of paragraphs, Wikipedia offers those same paragraphs, the band’s website is more or less an order form and Encyclopedia Metallum barely makes the distinction between two different Swedish bands named Witchcraft. Hell, the band’s digital press release that comes with the album from Nuclear Blast doesn’t even have the band members’ names on it. So who is Witchcraft, and what are we doing here?

Album Review: Witchcraft Reissues

One of the benefits of discovering a band in its infancy is being able to watch them grow and develop as the years pass. The bands that shift their sound between records, never treading the exact same ground twice, are the ones that make for the most rewarding relationships between band and fan. In the over-saturated metal market, finding bands at the genesis of their sound is not easy, and many escape our vision until it's too late to enjoy the process of maturation.
