Horror Headlines: Wednesday July 3rd, 2013

Hideo Nakata, the guy who made "Ringu", has signed on to direct the remake of the Korean film "Haunters". The film is about a man who can control people with his mind and the one guy who seems to be immune to him. It's also about me thinking the titled was "Hunters" at first. That really doesn't make any difference here though. Just a fun fact.

Tomorrow is the 4th of July. Pretty much everyone has checked out at this point. News is slow. "ThanksKilling 3" is coming to DVD in October, just in time for Halloween. By the team you read this I'll probably be drunk.

"Fear Clinic" is a new movie that will star Robert Englund and Danielle Harris if you help fund it. The film will focus on a group of patients undergoing a special treatment that shows them their greatest fears in order to cure them. Funny enough, my greatest fear is a love scene between England and Harris. How much do I have to donate for that not to happen?

Do you want to see fan art for the movie "Carrie"? No me either but Screen Gems has launched a tumblr site where fans can upload and view each others art. Look I said it's a slow day alright.

In Real People News:

Sorry Huntsville Stars fans, that's in Alabama for you folks playing at home, but the team has decided to cancel their gun raffle which was supposed to take place during an upcoming game. I assume the pocket knife giveaway night is still on though.

If you see on the news that your dentist was found in a McDonald's parking lot high out of her mind with a child in the car you might want to think about postponing that cleaning. Then again, this is Tennessee so the chances of you actually having teeth are pretty slim.

Sadako 3d (Ringu 5) (REVIEW)

I've got a lot of nostalgia for movies like "The Ring" and "The Grudge." I didn't really grow up with horror movies, so at the time these came out, "horror" basically meant: "I Know What You Did Last Summer" movies, the later and more embarrassing sequels of "Halloween," and a whole host of "Scream" knock-offs.

Trailers: "Ringu" is back, J-Horror cycle will never die

I always thought the American remake of "Ringu" was the better film when compared to the original. It's an opinion I realize isn't widely shared in the greater horror community, but then again, being a contrarian is kind of my thing, I'm ok with it. Anyway, Japan has decided to resurrect the series with "Sadako 3D", named after the original film's antagonist. She was by far the scariest thing about that original, so let's hope they bring back the original actress. I didn't feeling like sifting through terrible Babelfish translations all day to find out if they did.
