Horror Headlines: Thursday October 22, 2009

Director Tim Sullivan has had a busy news day. Not only has he announced that the sequel to his "2001 Maniacs" remake has the new title of "2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams", he has also released three new pictures from the movie. The most important items of note is that Robert Englund has been replaced by Bill Mosely, and Christa Campbell in a milkmaid costume.

In quite possibly the oddest news of the day, The Weather Channel has announced it will be adding movies to its channel lineup. Starting out with a showing of "A Perfect Storm" on Oct. 30th, the lineup shows that it will be a weekly string of weather themed movies. Most notable to us horror fans is Stephen King's "Misery", because of the snow.

From the unexpected and unwanted reboot desk comes word that a script for a new "Crow" movie has been turned in and the studios dig it. Written by Stepehn Norrington who helmed "Blade", the movie is said to not be a remake but a whole new character.

Dread Central has posted a slew of new "Stan Helsing" clips, and I still remain unexcited!

In Real People News:

An alternative Denver newspaper is hiring a new reviewer. In particular, they're looking for a writer to review the state marijuana dispenseries and their products. Good luck getting them to meet deadlines.

The King lives on through expensive hair. Elvis' hair, chopped from his head upon his enlistment to the US Army, fetches $15k from a recent auction. Someday, the hair that's quickly making its exit from my own scalp will make me rich.

On this day in history:

1836 – Sam Houston is inaugurated as the first President of the Republic of Texas.
