Let me see if I have this straight. Twitch Film's April Fool's story was about a Special Edition of "Mimic"? Aren't April Fool's pranks supposed to be funny? Or you know, at least interesting?
IFC has picked up the rights to Laurel K. Hamilton's "Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter" series for a television show. Think "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" meets "True Blood", only with worse writing. Try wrapping your head around that one for a while.
Some pics from Thomas Jane's "Dark Country", a film in which he is serving as both writer and director. The story concerns "a couple en route from Las Vegas that are forced to deal with a body out in the desert, making their honeymoon one hellish ride". Tom Jane being the nerd-friendly guy that he is, I've got high hopes for this project. Of course, it doesn't hurt that he's referring to it as a "3D Noir Supernatural Thriller". Daddy like.
Apparently bored with beating the shit out of prisoners, a County Sherriff upped the ante recently by feeding a prisoner a bologna sandwich, and then showing him a cell-phone pic of another prisoner's junk resting on the same sandwich. That seems awful elaborate to me, but I guess the job could get kind of boring after a while.
Hey there teenagers... if some old guy is nice enough to buy you beer and party at his house - creepiness aside - don't light his crotch on fire. It's just bad form and probably ensures he's not going to do it again... assuming he'll ever be able to walk again that is.
I'm sure there have been Indonesian serial killers who have released books before. Not positive, but it seems likely. A collection of pop songs on the other hand, I'm betting that's never happened before. As far as strange foreign pop music though, I'm sure it will never top this gem, but then again what could.
1459: Vlad the Impaler impales thousands of merchants and burghers of the town of Brasov, in Transylvania. Some estimate as many as 30,000 impalements, but it was probably more on the order of 2,000.
