Horror Headlines: Thursday December 18th, 2008

The Alamo Drafthouse makes an awesome retro poster for the original 1974 film "Black Christmas", because they're going to be screening the classic slasher on December 25th.

"Homecoming" is a thriller about a family who's vacationing in a remote island, only to return to find out that something has wiped out almost all of humanity. They soon realize that the survivors they've discovered pose a threat to them, and they must keep running until they return home. This will be directed by the writer of "The Orphanage", Sergio G. Sanchez.

Jason Standee being put in theaters to promote the "Friday the 13th" remake allows you to stick your head in a hole and take a picture with the killer... AWESOME. IDEA. The studio is also encouraging you to send in your snapped photos to them, which you can find out more info on at the link.

"Troll" remake director John Carl Bucheler wants you to use Youtube to audition for his new film. Ya, I'm sure this will end well.

In Real People News:

School is canceled today because of snow... in Las Vegas? Does this mark the return of dark lord Xenu or something? Good lord.

The town of Wilmington Ohio is about to have half of it's population laid off. If you're looking for the next big trainwreck reality show, this town might be the place to film it.

On this day in history:

1916: Bloodiest and longest battle of World War I ends, with the French defeating Germans at the Battle of Verdun. There were over 1 million casualties, and the Verdun ossuary contains bones of 100,000 unidentified soldiers.
