Horror Headlines: Monday January 5th, 2009

Well, it's the first full week of 2009, and also the start of this year's horror releases with David Goyer's "The Unborn" coming out this Friday the 9th. Our latest podcast episode will be recorded tonight, so you'll be seeing it in your podcatchers tomorrow morning. Barring any issues, it should see the return of the long-absent Jon Schnaars. Hope to see you there! In the meantime, on with the show.

Even more pics from "Terminator Salvation". McG's new trilogy-starter gets released May 22nd, which puts it square at the beginning of the summer Blockbuster season.

"H2" (or "Halloween 2") has a release date of August 28th, 2009. That puts it on Labor Day weekend, the exact time two years ago when the first one was released. Since that is not typically a big movie weekend (most people in the US are at BBQ's that weekend), the film broke weekend records with only about 30 mill in box office. I guess they're trying to bank on that again. The buzz is also that they were afraid of going up against "Saw VI" on Halloween, which says a lot for a film that shares it's name with the Holiday.

Also of note, Danielle Harris is rumored to be in final talks to return for "H2". Harris of course starred in both "Halloween 4" and "Halloween 5", and was a big surprise addition to the cast of the original "Halloween" remake. She went on in many ways to give the most stand out performance in the film.

Pics from Chan Park-Wook's vampire film "Thirst" have hit the web. The synopsis is pretty convoluted, but essentially it's about a priest who survives a deadly disease by becoming undead, and the ensuing mystery and love triangle that unfolds when his flock start to believe he has religious healing powers.

In Real People News:

So wait... terrorists are going to try and use bugs to kill us? All they would need to get me is a big hairy spider... I'd probably have a heart attack on the spot. But ya, this is actually way more complicated and scary than that.

Underage girl calls in her own DUI. If only all drunks were this smart, or stupid... I guess it depends on how you look at it.

Researcher believes that Stonehenge was built as an ancient concert hall, citing odd acoustic attributes as proof. Since I prefer conspiracy theories to hard science, I'm sticking with UFO landing pad hypothesis.

On this day in history:

1998: Congressman Sonny Bono dead from blunt force trauma to his head after a direct collision with a pine tree at Heavenly Valley Ski Area.
