"Orphan" Hits Theaters Today

Thanks to one Mr. Jon Schnaars the entire podcast team will be heading out to the theaters this weekend to watch “Orphan”. I have to say when I first saw the trailer before “Drag Me To Hell” this past May I groaned loud enough for the people in the next theater to hear me. But with the film's release coming today we’re seeing a lot of decent reviews popping up. Even the bad ones are saying the film is pretty entertaining. Not to mention the controversy the film has caused with countless adoption groups, even sparking an "I Am Boycotting Warner Bros. Orphan Movie" group on Facebook that currently has over 4,000 members.

The tragic loss of their unborn child has devastated Kate and John, taking a toll on both their marriage and Kate's fragile psyche as she is plagued by nightmares and haunted by demons from her past. Struggling to regain some semblance of normalcy in their lives, the couple decides to adopt a child. At the local orphanage, both John and Kate find themselves strangely drawn to a young girl named Esther. Almost as soon as they welcome Esther into their home, however, an alarming series of events begins to unfold, leading Kate to believe that there's something wrong with Esther--this seemingly angelic little girl is not what she appears to be. Concerned for the safety of her family, Kate tries to get John and others to see past Esther's sweet facade. But her warnings go unheeded until it may be too late-for everyone.

You can’t help but compare the film to the 1993 Macaulay Culkin flick “The Good Son”. The biggestg difference is that Isabelle Fuhrman is a hell of a lot creepier looking than Mr. Home Alone ever was. So this one might turn out to be a hit for the crew. We’ll find out next week. At the very least there is no way it can be worse then Mark’s pick of “Shriek Of the Mutilated”.
