Do you like dank, dark holes in the ground? Do you enjoy that crushing weight of thousands of pounds of rock looming over your head? Do you think the sound of skittering beasties off in the distance of pitch black corridors sounds great? You're going to love "The Pyramid"!
I'm going to be honest here; until today, I hadn't even heard of "The Pyramid". When news broke that this Alexandre Aja produced flick had a new trailer online, I was a bit surprised. I'm generally a fan of Aja over all, so it was definitely attention grabber. This time around, Aja has passed the directing duties to Gregory Levasseur, who has helped pen many of Aja's big screen features. Levasseur is the co-writer behind such films as "High Tension", "Mirrors", "The Hills Have Eyes" and essentially all of Aja's features. Oddly enough, Levasseur didn't write "The Pyramid".
After a quick glance at this new trailer, I can't say I'm overjoyed, but I can say I'm intrigued. In today's world of remakes, sequels and bland teen drama under the guise of a full moon, I'm pretty stoked to see something that looks at least a little different. We don't get a solid good look at the big bad for "The Pyramid", but we do catch glimpses. With the hints the trailer gives and the setting being a musty ancient pyramid, it pretty much has to be mummies, right? When's the last time we had a legit scary mummy flick? The Brendan Frasier masterpieces definitely do not count.
"The Pyramid" hits theaters December 5th. You can be sure that we'll cover this one on the Bloody Good Horror Podcast!
