mockumentary

Mikey Roe hosts Feed The Beast on the Travel Channel, and can be seen starting October 10th in The Houses October Built, a new found footage film from director Bobby Roe.

Beneath the fake blood and cheap masks of countless haunted house attractions across the country, there are whispers of truly terrifying alternatives. Looking to find an authentic, blood-curdling good fright for Halloween, five friends set off on a road trip in an RV to track down these underground Haunts. Just when their search seems to reach a dead end, strange and disturbing things start happening and it becomes clear that the Haunt has come to them…

Is it a documentary? Mockumentary? Faukumentary? One thing's for sure, it made us all feel icky.

Zombies walk among us, shop among us, scrapbook among us, and in some cases have cat allergies among us. There are advocacy groups and centers of study devoted to education about the ‘living deceased’ and who outreach to those who are part of this marginalized population. This is the universe of “American Zombie”, a mockumentary that follows two filmmakers who are trying to make a documentary about the underground ‘revenant’ community in the greater Los Angeles area.

"District 9" is a mockumentary set in a fictional South Africa which has been filled with Alien refugees... literally. The film is a not so subtle riff on racism and xenophobia, but with a strange sci-fi bent.

This is a "Peter Jackson Presents" production, helmed by South African director Neill Blomkamp, whose previous visual effects credits include "3000 Miles to Graceland", as well as the TV shows "Dark Angel" and "Smallville". No word on how wide the release will be, but IMDB has it pegged for August 14th, 2009. Looks pretty mindblowing to me!
