Banned "Left 4 Dead 2" Cover Isn't Very Exciting

If "Left 4 Dead 2" is anything, it will be bloody, violent, and a hell of a lot of fun. With all of the hooplah about its "rushed" release, I would have thought that the cover of the game would be the least of everyone's concern. Apparently, I was wrong.

At Valve's booth you saw one or two instances of the hand image shown in this picture of Chet Faliszeck, and the ring and pinky fingers have been completely bitten off. That's an image Valve claims the ESRB wouldn't allow for future marketing materials.

Valve was told it had to change the hand, and if you look at the official images for the game now, those two fingers are simply bent back, not chewed off. Faliszek pointed out that this is a game where people are torn apart using a chainsaw, but bitten off fingers on the logo? That's crossing some line.

Ah, much better (?)

Honestly, I think the new version communicates the number two better than the other one, but it seems completely unbelievable that the ESRB wouldn't have ANY other problems with the game outside of the cover. I'm not sure why two chewed off fingers is more offensive than one, but then again, I'm not so sure why you can show a whole breast on TV but a nipple will cost millions of dollars in fines. I guess there are just some things I'll never understand.
