Trailer: "The American Scream" (2012)

Michael Stephensen, the director behind the amazingly hilarious "Best Worst Movie" is back with a new documentary, "The American Scream", which takes a behind the scenes look at the efforts of the residents of a small New England town who take their love of Halloween to the extreme. A pretty cool concept for a documentary, especially considering everyone had that one neighborhood house that went all out for Halloween. (For the record, no one in my neighborhood went this crazy, but we did have a house that put together a haunted garage every year, which was awesome.)

Here's a look at the official synopsis:

Every Halloween, sleepy Fairhaven, Massachusetts erupts with the most ambitiously creative spookery in the world. Endless styrofoam tombstones and backyard beasts come courtesy of a few supremely dedicated local "home haunters" who've devoted their lives to the art of handmade monster-making. THE AMERICAN SCREAM follows three of these horrific households to uncover the triumphs and tragedies that come with carrying the blackened banner of true Halloween spirit.

"The American Scream" is currently in theaters via a limited theatrical run in select cities. It will also make its worldwide television premiere on the Chiller Network on October 28th.
