I'm sure this news has been out for a while now, but I'm just finding it so I thought it would be a great time to remind you guys.
The news in question is that Lions Gate will be releasing the "classic" slasher "Slaughter High" in April of this year. Now, the film isn't exactly what I would call "good", in fact, for some a swift kick to the junk may be more enjoyable. Still, I fully recognize this film's potential to be enjoyed on a delightful "so bad it's good" type of level. Not only that, but it's one of the last on a dwindling list of 80's horror gems yet to be released on DVD in the states. Once this comes out, our collections will be one step closer to being complete.
For the uninitiated, the plot goes something like this:
It's your basic 80's "revenge slasher" formula. The film is also known for the iconic killer, decked out in a modified jester mask and wearing a school letter jacket. One thing never mentioned about this film that makes me think I'm insane, but I swear to Science the music during the finale is lifted straight from "Friday the 13th Part V". No foolsies, listen to it and tell me I'm wrong.
Anyhoo, this disc comes as a part of Lions Gate's new "The Lost Collection", which apparently includes "Pop-Up Trivia" as part of the disc. Find details on that below, followed by the "Slaughter High" trailer and a hi-res look at the slick DVD art below that. I will most likely be checking it out again when it comes out, just because I'm a masochist like that. So expect a review in April.
