Hey folks, just wanted to drop by today with a few site notes about some stuff coming up over the next few weeks.
First off, you probably noticed that we have brought two new bloggers on board. When you get the chance, be sure to welcome Bryan and Christine to the fold by commenting on their intro posts. They both come well qualified and ready to hit you upside the head with pop culture detritus, so be sure to stay tuned for that.
Also, I just wanted to thank anyone who sent me an application for the blogger positions. I received so many entries that I don't have time to respond to each one individually. So if you didn't hear back, know that I've kept your information on file for the next expansion. It's possible we'll be bringing on more people in the near future, so don't fret if you didn't hear back this time around.
Also, August 1st marks the 1 year anniversary of our triumphant return to the internet. In celebration, we're going to be cooking up some special content for the month of August, most of which will center around getting to know the crew better and rediscovering old material that you may have missed the first time around. We'll also be doing some special features, lists and all kinds of other stuff. If you want to get us a present, we're a big fan of money, but an ice cream cake will also do :)
AND FINALLY, for this fall I'm cooking up a feature that will be called "Hometown Horrors". I will be putting out a call to anyone and everyone who reads the site. I want pictures of your decorated homes, haunted hay rides, haunted houses, amusement parks... basically anything that's all gussied up for the Halloween season. There may be some sort of prize involved but for right now, I'm envisioning it as a way to connect our readers in a real tangible way. Everyone has a house in their town that goes all out every year (in fact, it's probably yours!) and everyone has a favorite haunted event.
Obviously there's not much going on now, but please keep this in mind in case you see anything. Bloody Good Horror wants to spotlight you and your "Hometown Horrors" this fall.
So that's it. As a reminder, we'll be picking back up with our podcast this week with a review of Clive Barker's 1990 film "Nightbreed". Don't forget to Netflix it now so you can follow along!
