"The Swamp Thing" isn't exactly the new kid on the block; he's been around for decades now in both comic and movie form. By now, the character has been told through hundreds of books, several volumes and by several authors. In this book by DC Vertigo, they are continuing the effort started in Volume 1. What's that effort you may ask? What many may not be aware of is, Alan Moore, the legendary author of such comic classics as "Watchmen" got his start in the US on this very title. And that is what "Saga of the Swamp Thing Vol. 2" has done; pulled together the collection of Alan Moore penned books.
That said, this is a really great book, especially if you're a fan of horror comics and Alan Moore himself. Pulled together in a hard cover package, we have 224 pages of deep and freaky story telling that one may not expect from something like "Swamp Thing". I myself have never read any of the titles before, yet always found myself curious. After reading through the pages of book 2 however, I've already found myself heading online to track down the first Volume and eagerly anticipating the 3rd. For those of you who aren't familiar, you can liken Moores version of the earth elemental to the stories of "Sandman" by Neil Gaiman. They are often dream-like and venture anywhere from broken hearts to the very depths of hell.
"Saga of the Swamp Thing Book 2" weighs in at 224 pages for $24.99. the book is due out on November 25th through Previews and at Comic Stands everywhere. For a look at the details, be sure to visit the page at Vertigo!
