Over the past day or so, several cities and towns (including Chicago!) have been put on high alert, fearing that people intend to re-enact the violent, lawless "Purge" period from the movies. Although it seems like the initial hoax has been called out, Twitter rumors are persisting.
Rumors of violence should absolutely be taken seriously, and I hope that these rumors stay rumors, but can we just take a moment to appreciate how wonderful and ridiculous that some of these tweets are?

Also, whoever is in charge of the Denton Police Department's twitter account should probably find a way to re-word this:
In reference to the Purge event tonight,we declined all requests we received to make it legal to do any illegal activity tonight. #purge

I'm honestly convinced this is all a reaction to us not having covered "The Purge: Anarchy" on the podcast yet. That makes sense, right?
