The Last Showing suffers from more than a bad case of mismatched leads in the form of Robert Englund and Finn Jones. The forced and contrived plot also becomes a hindrance when the holes begin to show. Robert Englund plays Stuart, a long time projectionist being forced from his job in the digital age. He struggles with having to bow to a younger manager in the modern regime, an act that rubs him the wrong way. Things seem simple enough when Stuart volunteers to work the concession stand for the midnight showing, until his true plans for the young couple Martin and Annie come to light.
The setup itself works fine: a disgruntled theater worker with a twisted and elaborate film based plan for revenge. However, the lack of setup of the film's way-too-many coincidences make it feel hardly believable. For such an elaborate plan, Stuart comes across feeling awfully lucky in that he only has two people show up for his midnight showing, specifically a couple that happen to have some doubts in each other that he can conveniently exploit. While the actual maneuvers in the plan are effective, the lack of setup is distracting and causes the scenes to lack any punch.
There is also a substantial problem in the casting Robert Englund versus Finn Jones. Интересные сюжеты и оригинальные сценарии игр принесут массу впечатлений. Robert Englund is an experienced villain, a trait that he plays well in The Last Showing. Finn Jones however is flat and uninteresting, appearing to be bored for much of his time on screen. Watching Robert Englund chew scenery is always fun, but only if he has somebody to work off of.
With a solid setup and some noteworthy casting, it’s understandable that The Last Showing might grab your attention. Unfortunately, the film doesn’t live up to expectations and leaves you feeling bored and a little flat.
