Real Life 'Joker' Killer

Last night I was told the most terrifying story I had heard in the past six months. A young man, in Belgium, painted his face to look like the Joker, entered a local nursery and began slaughtering children.

You could just picture the brutality of the crime scene from this description by By Bruno Waterfield and John Bingham of the news website, Telegraph.co.uk :

"The 20-year-old assailant had a painted white face, eye shadow and ginger hair, and was wearing a bullet proof vest, witnesses said.

He tricked his way into the Fabeltjesland day care centre at 10a,m by claiming to have a meeting with one of the members of staff. He then drew a 12in knife and began to slash at children aged between a few months and two years old.

There were 21 infants in the creche and six supervisors. All of the victims were stabbed in the throat or head. Parents gathered in the Dendermonde town hall and, with psychologists in support, identified the victims using photographs.

Nine children escaped unharmed. Three of the creche's child care workers were injured as they tried to fend off the attacker.

Theo Janssens, Dendermonde's deputy mayor, said that the man 'just went crazy'.

'There was blood everywhere, it was unbelievable, real carnage. He went straight for the babies and attacked them. The smallest ones were in their beds, they were probably asleep.'"

On other sites there were details of the unnamed killer's arrest. One site mentioned that in the 'Joker' killer's pocket was a list of other possible nurseries in the area.

I don't post this to glorify the demented plan of a sociopath, but just to show how terrifying real life scenarios can get.

I was brought up an only child/only grandchild in a family obsessed with horror films. I am really good at creating terrifying scenarios in my head, which can sometimes lead to dissapointment while watching scary movies. I am a comic book writer, and my love for comics only slightly surpases my love for horror movies.
