The Chinese calendar may say 2015 is the Year of the Sheep, but it’s rapidly becoming the Year of the Goat – more accurately, a giant goat-monster named Krampus. He’ll be dishing out Christmas-infused mayhem in two separate films this year, including a turn as the main baddie in Krampus (Dec. 4). Before that happens, he’ll share the screen with twisted takes on several beloved holiday characters and traditions in the anthology flick A Christmas Horror Story.
In the A Christmas Horror Story trailer, Christmas is looking pretty rough for the folks of Bailey Downs. They’re a year removed from a brutal mass murder at a local school. A group of students decide to investigate the empty school for a video project and – shockingly – get in over their heads. Elsewhere, a family heads out into the woods to find the perfect Christmas tree, but their youngest member leaves the woods possibly forever changed. A totally different family discusses the legend of Krampus and, lo and behold, he shows up wielding some vicious-looking chains. Perhaps worst of all, Christmas may not even happen because Santa is under siege by zombie-elves in the North Pole.
William Shatner stars as a radio DJ whose program seems to link all of these tales together. Don’t worry about finding room in your hearts for two Christmas horror movies as A Christmas Horror Story will hit theaters and VOD way ahead of the holiday season. It can be found in both formats on Oct. 2.
