Katatonia talks horror!

Hello boys and girls. Continuing the series of metal musicians who want to use this space to talk about their favorite horror films, I'm giving it over to Anders Nystrom, guitarist for Swedish ambient metallers Katatonia. The stage is yours, sir!

THE OMEN

The whole trilogy is nothing but a classic masterpiece of satanic horror.

THE EXORCIST

Another essential satanic horror classic. Should be the gateway to all horror movies.

THE SHINING

Probably my favorite movie of all time. Psychological, epic, mysterious.

28 DAYS LATER

I was really affected by the desolation theme in this one, a different take on zombie flicks. Beautiful.

THE RING

Modern classic. Very good script and the scene with the girl from the well haunted me a long time.

EVIL DEAD

The best cult horror action ever.

THE OTHERS

Slow and almost boring until the moment when it totally sends shivers down your spine and catapults the movie to one of the best. Also free from any hollywood cheese.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

Very disturbing if you watch it alone and late at night for maximum value. The homecam style helps borderline to imaginative reality. Pleasantly free from hollywood cheese.

JAWS

Maybe not traditional horror, but still has a lot of suspense and swimming in the ocean was never the same after.

NIGHTWATCH

Underrated Danish movie. Very creepy moments in the morgue.

D.M is the Music Editor for Bloodygoodhorror.com. He tries to avoid bands with bodily functions in the name and generally has a keen grasp of what he thinks sounds good and what doesn't. He also really enjoys reading, at least in part, and perhaps not surprisingly, because it's quiet. He's on a mission to convince his wife they need a badger as a household pet. It's not going well.
