It occurred to me recently that I haven't been talking about this film "Vinyan" on the site very much, and so this post is an attempt to rectify that.
Here's the official synopsis:
A couple leaves the civilized world behind and descends into a living nightmare in this chilling horror thriller. Six months after losing her only child in the Southeast Asia tsunami, Jeanne (Emmanuelle Béart, Mission: Impossible) is convinced she sees him in a film about orphans living in the jungles of Burma. While her husband (Rufus Sewell, TV’s “Eleventh Hour”) is worried that she’s losing her mind, he still agrees to take her to search for their son together. Introduced to a dangerous gang of human traffickers, they find themselves alone and stranded in the middle of a treacherous jungle, set upon by a band of feral children. Has their search for their son led them to a fate more horrific than death?
I suppose we're in an odd genre-crossing territory with this one, and frankly there's not a whole lot of horror elements to the trailer. Still, there's an underlying feeling of uneasiness that holds the promise of unrevealed horrific elements to the film. I dig the trailer, what do you guys think? Sony has picked the film up for a DVD release, and it will be hitting shelves April 7th, 2009.
