HEROES 3.13 " A Clear and Present Danger"

Lost.
Battlestar Galactica.
Fringe.

Those are just three of the superior alternatives you can find on television to 'Heroes'. If you are a comic book nerd (and I would assume there are many 'Heroes' fans who read comics) there are tons of interesting books on the shelves, including all of Marvel's DARK REIGN books, or DC's upcoming BLACKEST NIGHT. So why spend any of your spare time watching 'Heroes'?

I honestly have no answer for that.

Can you tell how excited I am at the prospect of having to watch another half of a season of this show? I forgot that it was even came back on TV tonight. I bet you fifty bucks, the same goes for you. I want to know, who actually watched tonight's episode?

I will give the show's writers some credit. Tonight's episode was very streamlined. There was no time traveling, no crazy family connections, and a very small amount of mystic silliness.

This half of the season opened with the same sort of goofiness involving Ando and Hiro as the first half did. This time around, Hiro is prepping Ando to be a real life super hero, to use his new found powers to fight crime. Hiro whips out a one piece spandex outfit and expects Ando to wear it.

This is prime time folks. We, as educated adults are somehow supposed to believe that this character is so clueless that even he doesn't know how ridiculously stupid he sounds? It makes me wonder how the actors are able to have straight faces on while filming this show.

Of course, before Hiro's worthless plan is put into action, he and Ando get swept up with the newest conflict between those with powers and those without.

All of the main characters, with the exclusion of Sylar and Nathan are rounded up, and sent off with black bags on their heads to some sort of secret government facility. It is a little too close to Guantanamo Bay to be considered tasteful. Sylar avoids capture by throwing a super powered smack down on a group of Black Ops soldiers, in what is by far the most entertaining scene in the entire episode. Nathan escapes because he is the traitor who set up the whole government operation in the first place.

In the very end, before they can reach the camp, Claire manages to untie a few of the super powered prisoners, and Peter creates a ruckus on board the aircraft causing it to crash.... To Be Continued!!

I know I sound like a child being forced to watch a boring program they know they wont enjoy, but at this point, watching 'Heroes' with a few good friends is like being on 'Mystery Science Theater 3000'. All of the enjoyment comes from making fun of the horrible acting and the nonsensical plot twists. Let's see how the third season ends. My guess is, it will be the show's last.
