Whenever I'm talking to someone who hates horror films, they inevitably ask me "what would you say is a good horror film?" Without fail, I know of one movie that anyone, regardless of how much they hate our little genre of film we hold so dear, will always agree is a great film, is Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining". Based off of one of my favorite Stephen King novels, "The Shining" is one of my absolute favorite films. And it's finally available for Instant Streaming on Netflix.
If you've somehow never managed to see this film, you are in for an incredible treat. This film scared the living shit out of me as a child, and has left an indelible mark on my psyche. Despite the fact I'm now twenty four years old, and know better, whenever I find myself getting home late on a cool October night, I'm terrified of finding two creepy little girls waiting for me at the end of the hallway leading to my apartment (I swear, that hallway has the same exact wallpaper). If I manage to make it back into my apartment safely, there's always the chance of finding some rotting, decayed naked old woman in my tub when I brush my teeth before bed. And if I ever turned the corner to my bedroom to find a guy dressed up in a creepy bear suit, I'd probably have to change my pants.
In other words, turn the lights off, throw this movie on and prepare yourself. You won't forget it.
