Music Just in Time For Halloween!

Okay, so you're getting down to the end here and saying 'sonofagun, my Halloween playlist is just a little short!  My party will be ruined and I will face steadfast and frequent social rejection if I fail to remedy this situation with haste.'  Or something like that.  Anyway, you've got forty-eight hours to avoid complete and total embarrassment, and you've come to the right place.

First of all, your boy Dani Filth is setting the mood properly by giving us a complete rundown (in two parts) of the horror movies that influenced his upcoming musical enterprise, Devilment.

Oh, and by the way, the band's first single can be seen and heard here

Then, if you still have holes in your evening's entertainment, those loveable scamps in Hollywood Undead has popped out their new single, "Day of the Dead," from the upcoming record of the same name, due roughly in the first part of 2015.

But wait, there's more!  The smart boys over at Videogram have put together a tribute song to Friday the 13th, using footage from an Indonesian knockoff of the series and a disco remix of Part 3 of 'Thriller,' perhaps the most famous Halloween party music of all time:

If you're still short (and since you're still reading, you probably are,) we've got the perfect thing:  A gentleman in the UK is building himself a small horror music empire and going about it in exactly the right way.  Hauntmusic is the efforts of one man to capture the burgeoning popularity of Halloween in the UK by channelling his love of 70s and 80s horror soundtracks into his own aural efforts.  Take a spin over to his bandcamp page, and Sam Haynes will teach you a thing or two about how Halloween music should be written.  His selections are airy, deeply atmospheric and catpialize on the general creepiness of the unknown.  What's most impressive about his compositions is the way they take their time and work you over emotionally.  "Ghost Train" is an empty, hollow spooky piece that uses the haunting monotone of a minimalist piano line to induce dread.  This nightclub DJ and music producer turned horror composer has locked down exactly what it takes to make an audience cringe and creep.  If you're afraid of clowns, stay away from "Fear of Clowns."  It's like a one-song soundtrack to "Something Wicked This Way Comes."  Haynes has composed some excellent music for all horror fans to enjoy, and it's spot on for giving your party the right atmosphere and your attendees the shivers.  Don't miss it.

And if none of that is enough, well, you can always go the Dead Kennedys route.  That's all we got.
