Metal News: "American Carnage" Postponed

If you haven't heard yet, there will be no American Carnage tour... at least, not this winter.

The whole thing has been postponed on the heels of Slayer frontman Tom Araya's apparently necessary back surgery. The tour was to feature Slayer, Megadeth and Testament, touring the United States and parts of Canada.

Fear not though, as ticket holders are being urged to hang onto their tickets, as the dates will all be rescheduled for sometime in the late Spring/summer. That seems like an awfully quick turnaround for invasive back surgery, but what do I know?

Additionally, Slayer's participation in the monumental Sonisphere festival in the summer does not seem to be in jeopardy. For those who haven't yet heard, Sonisphere promises to unite Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax on a single tour for the first time in history. So far, American fans are out of luck, as the tour is promising only European dates. I would expect that to change, but don't count on it yet.

In lieu of the American Carnage dates, Megadeth is rumored to be scrambling to fill the void with their own headline tour over the winter, so check them often to see if they've listed official dates yet.

-In other news, if you haven't heard, Soundgarden is staging a reunion tour. Does my excitement for this mean I'm living in the past? Maybe. Does that matter to me? Not really, no.
