Irish Demon Folklore Runs Rampant In "The Hallow" Trailer Debut

In a passing glance at the premise to Corin Hardy's debut film The Hallow  one can't help but conjure up memories of Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead- people in a secluded setting battling the supernatural. Hardy, who is on deck to direct the remake of The Crow clearly took heavy influence for his much talked about debut. The frames on display in the debut trailer for The Hallow have roots deep in Raimi's own debut, but with a more polished aesthetic and set on the Irish countryside.

The Hallow places a contractor along with his wife and infant child in a semi-remote Irish village. The house that they are living in is buried in the woods that the locals claim belong to violent creatures. Naturally, the warnings go unheeded until the happy family and their new house fall under siege by 'the Hallow.'

The trailer does a great job of setting a tone for Hardy's film without showing too much. Yet there's still a number of extremely ominous 'moneyshots' including our main character wielding a flaming scythe as well as an abundance of quick cuts of chaotic footage. Currently The Hallow is making festival rounds and no VOD/theater release has been announced, but keep your eyes peeled as you may not want to miss this one.

Horror movies and beer - the only two viable options for entertainment in the wastelands of Nebraska as far as he's concerned. When he's not in the theater he's probably drinking away the sorrows of being a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.
