Let’s be serious here – if you were told to write down what you thought the combined sound of Soulfly, Mastodon, the Mars Volta and the Dillinger Escape Plan would be, what are the words that come to mind? Irascible, scratchy, virile, pummeling, cacophonous, noisy, and a thousand synonyms.

Concert Review: Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Part 2

…And so we come to the main stage. Mayhem Fest, in a credit to its organizers, did a much better job this year of spacing the last second stage set (Children of Bodom) and the first main stage set. The crowd was settling in but present when Amon Amarth was revealed. For all that the Swedish band eschews the dramatic musical flair of their contemporaries, they swing a very large hammer when it comes to set design.

10 Horror Heavy Music Videos NOT Named Thriller

Everyone has seen the video for "Thriller". Rightfully so, too, it's a great song and the video was truly revolutionary for it's time. However, it crowds out dozens of other music videos that have drawn heavily from horror films for their inspiration. Because there are so many of these other, lesser known, videos, here's a list of 10 of my favorites from a pretty diverse mix of genres:

Puppet Mayhem in Mastodon's New Video For "Deathbound"

Take "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" with a little bit of "Fraggle Rock" and jack them both up on angel dust and you've pretty much got the new Mastodon video for their track "Deathbound". The song is an unreleased track from their 2009 album "Crack the Skye" and the video was created by the good people at Adult Swim and Authority Films for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy.
