Boos and Brews: Day 3 - CC and Brett

We all have that one movie we have to watch around the Halloween season, and what better way to enjoy that film than with a nice frothy beer? Boos and Brews chronicles the BGH crew's favorite Halloween-time movies, paired with a delicious beer. Drink up!

CC

Boo: House of 1000 Corpses (2003) - Director: Rob Zombie

CC: I love the overall roadside Americana feel of it. It's transgressive and punk and nasty. It's country-fried and badass. It avoids most cliches, and it's true horror because these people take so much obvious joy in being so sadistic with no regards to anything besides self satisfaction.

Brew: 3 Floyds Brewing Company - Rabbit Rabbit

JOE: Over the years I’ve come to groan every time Sir Zombie puts out a film but this one still holds up for me too CC, so fret not. I make my girlfriend, now wife, go see it with me around the time I was just getting back into horror thanks to the folks at BGH and to my surprise she didn’t end our relationship during the credits. To this day, I’ll still get a solid smack anytime I utter the phrase “Run rabbit run!” and because of that I’ve picked Rabbit Rabbit from the fellas at Munster Indiana’s 3 Floyds Brewing Company. This farmhouse ale has a nice spice complexity to it and is light enough to quench your thirst after watching 90 minutes nut bags running around a freaky ass house. It also comes in at a little over 7% ABV so if you drink enough of these you might be able to forget “The Devils Rejects” was ever a thing.

Brett

Boo - Hausu (1977) - Director: Nobuhiko Obayashi

BRETT: Hausu (aka "House") is pretty much a perfect Halloween movie for me since it combines all the things I love about the holiday and horror movies as well.  Yes it is a film about ghosts murdering children, but despite the the darkness, "Hausu" is mostly about having fun, non-sequitur weirdness, and going on an adventure with your friends.  In this case, that adventure would include being vomited on by a giant cat, being turned into a flying disembodied head, and being eaten by a grand piano. Unfortunately the only real hijinks I ever get up to with my friends is waiting for them to get trashed so I can drive them to Taco Bell at 3 a.m.

Brew: Vacationland Summer Ale - Gritty McDuff's

JOE: Someone had to be the prick who selected a movie full of subtitles and weird as crap to confuse the hell out of me and it looks like Brett’s that guy. In all honestly I’ve had this one sitting on my to-see list for a while and just haven't gotten around to it. From what i can understand from the trailer a group of young girls go on vacation and end up in a house with a blood spitting dog and someones head comes off and starts attacking people. What better way to enjoy such a trip than with a Vacationland Summer Ale from Portland Maine’s Gritty McDuff's. This blond ale is a nice alternative when you get sick of downing wheat beers all summer long. A good amount of toasted malt flavor is balanced nicely by a spicy hop finish. A great refreshing brew that you can drink all day long and still have enough sense to not go into a house with a man eating piano in it.

Drinking beer I enjoy for good time and make relaxation for everyone. Disney World is my land favorite time for me. Horror movies? Yes. That’s me for a nutshell.
