When Animals Dream

Bodies are Changing in this Trailer for Danish Werewolf Flick "When Animals Dream"

If you're a fan of Let the Right One In and Ginger Snaps, this new Danish coming-of-age werewolf film will probably be right up your alley.

When Animals Dream, the directorial debut of Jonas Alexander Arnby, tells the tale of Marie, a teenaged girl who lives in a tiny fishing village in Denmark with her father and wheelchair-bound mother. Marie begins to realize that some of the bodily changes she's experiencing are not quite like those of the other kids, and uncovers secrets her family wants to keep hidden.

With its themes of sexual awakening, this looks to be Ginger Snaps for a new generation with the slow burn tension of Let the Right One in. The subtitles would indicate this one will only garner interest from horror fans who aren't afraid to venture into the arthouse, but the trailer hints that there may be some genuine scares in store for those who decide to take a chance.

When Animals Dream debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, and hits limited theatrical release and VOD in the United States August 28th, 2015.
