All the Fan Girl Reactions I Had While Watching the "Final Girls" Trailer

There were a lot of murmurings earlier this year about an upcoming thriller called Final Girl starring Abigail Breslin, which will push the trope of a Final Girl to its furthest extreme. That movie was released on VOD on August 14, and is not the title that concerns us today. Instead, we are here to talk about the first trailer for the new horror-comedy The Final Girls (hence the confusion). The latter concerns looks to be a meta romp through a Friday the 13th-esque slasher when a group of teens - and all of their horror knowledge - get pulled into the movie.

I stumbled upon a clip from this movie a few months ago and have been bursting at the seams for more information and, last week, my prayers were answered.  Follow me, won't you, on the several stages of Fan-Girl-dom that I experienced watching this trailer.

  1. FilmSchoolRejects.com dug this movie?! That's rad!
  2. Thomas Middleditch?! I LOVE HIM! Looks like he'll be playing totally against type from Richard Hendricks on Silicon Valley, and I'm pumped!
  3. I'm digging the coloring and graininess of the 80's footage
  4. Their cliche scream sound effect game is on fleek, you might say.
  5. Adam Devine!
  6. I hate 3D gimickry as much as the next cinemaphile, but I would watch the crap out of that theater scene in 3D!
  7. Joke about the poor wrtiting in slasher? Check.
  8. Since Scream, movies have tried to duplicate Jamie Kennedy's character (Randy), usually with little success. Thomas Middleditch is just charming enough and this writing seems just smart enough, to pull it off.
  9. Spoiler alert: The final girl dies.
  10. More female characters than male characters?! Bring it!
  11. I could watch that final pratt fall for days.
  12. How soon does this come out?

The Final Girls will be hitting theaters on October 9th - in what I assume may be a limited release - and already has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and several accolades to its name from prestigious film festivals.

Sophie's introduction into the magic that is the horror genre was watching Halloween at a party in high school, and since then she's never looked back. She may be the wimpiest horror fan you have ever met, but she won't ever let that stop her!
