Elizabeth Olsen

Have you guys heard of this Godzilla person? Me neither.

Of all the horror films to be remade in recent years “Oldboy” is probably the one I would think American studios wouldn't want to touch with a ten-foot pole. It’s an incredibly dark, violent, mean-spirited, and shocking film whose finale involves a taboo that American audiences would find revolting. Even though mainstream studios, for whatever reason, are completely stuck in the remake trend, this was an idea that felt so bad I felt compelled to watch just out of sheer morbid curiosity.

I'm calling it right now. In 2014 Elizabeth Olsen and Bryan Cranston will be Hollywood's number 1 power couple. It's a bold statment I know, especially since I think Cranston is married, but they're both in talks to take on "Godzilla" in the upcoming reboot and there's no way that the two of them could be on set and not fall head over heels in love. The age difference is pretty bad too. To be honest I'm kind of disappointed in both of them.

Wait a second, "The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia" is going direct to DVD? How is that possible? Oh well, it'll be available on April 16th so check it out. Or don't. No skin off my scrote.

Lakeshore Entertainment has picked up the rights to the graphic novel "The Sword" with plans to bring it to the big screen. The story follows a young paraplegic who finds a sword that allows her to walk again after the brutal murder of her family. No news yet on casting or who will direct but with such a heartwarming story I hope we get to see this one soon.

All the world loves Colin Firth. There's no getting around it. And now he's going to play along side Nicole Kidman in the upcoming flick "Before I Go to Sleep". The film is about a woman who wakes up every morning with no memory of the previous day, with only her husband to help her. Guess what; she finds out her husband isn't really her husband at all. Even as a prick all the world will love Colin Firth. Prediction number 2 of today's post. Mark it down.

Unlike many sci-fi or horror films that require huge leaps of faith or suspensions of disbelief, perhaps the only thing that "Red Lights," the new film from Rodrigo Cortes ("Buried"), asks of the audience is that they presuppose "The X-Files" never existed. Mulder and Scully famously made skepticism cool as they toured around the world investigating paranormal events.

Find out if John Hawkes is more Jim Jones or Charles Manson in the 2011 indie sensation "Martha Marcy May Marlene."

We all try to come to grips with a film that wasn't quite what we expected...

If you're excited about "[REC] 3 Genesis", which I think you are because people seem to like those movies, then I've got good news for you. The film has finally been given a US release date of August 3rd for VOD and a limited theater run on September 7th. I mean I guess that's good news if you're in the US. Canadians probably don't give a crap. But hey, maple syrup is pretty awesome.

A.J. Cook, who may or may not be a regular cast member of "Criminal Minds" might just be taking on the lead role in a new flick called "Wer". I say "may" because it hasn't been confirmed yet but all signs point to her being the main lady in the flick which is a new found footage romp focusing on werewolves. Or not focusing on maybe. Ya know cause sometimes those movies have a lot of out of focus shots. It's a thinking joke. You'll get it.

I'm not going to bother explaining to you the plot of "Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark". Just know it's coming and there's a 95% chance some sort of former teen star is going to be in it. Possibly two of them. Some things are better left unspoken.

Am I the only one who has Elizabeth Olsen fever? I can't be. I just can't be! Oscar Isaac has got it. It's confirmed! He's just joined the cast of "Therese Raquin", a new film about a woman who plots to kill her husband after she finds herself in a steamy affair. I think this might be the first time I've used the word "steamy" in a news post. Let's agree to never let it happen again.

I'm pretty excited for the upcoming release of "Silent House" starring Elizabeth Olsen. A new viral site has recently popped up that places you right in the middle of the movie and it's darn fun! The site uses your Facebook info to put you right into the middle of Sarah's nightmare where you will see images and names from your Facebook page to make everything extra creepy. It's a lot of fun and worth a look.

And for anyone who has been living under a rock this past month and has missed the bajillion trailer spots on television, here is the synopsis:

Silent House

Though it feels like it's been much longer, audiences have been subjected to marketing campaigns built around the concept of 3D-as-experience since at least 2009. Which is why it was both refreshing and a bit surprising when trailers began to roll out for "Silent House" built not around that now-tired theater gimmick but instead around the concept of "real-time horror." Commercials and materials have been up-front about the fact that the film is presented in one, uncut take.

If there's one thing we love here in the Big Apple it's getting to feel like we're better than everyone else in the world. Getting to see a special screening of a movie might not be the greatest thing in the world but it's still good enough for a late night text to your douche bag brother-in-law who lives in L.A.
