Darkthrone

At this point in their lengthy career, there are a couple things about Darkthrone which are automatically true and indubitably awesome. First is that, good or bad or indifferent, Darkthrone is doing whatever the hell they want to do. Musically, this duo has moved into the rarefied air of having nothing to prove to anyone. Long gone is the corpse paint, the leather get-ups and most (but not all) of the scowling.

You remember Valora chapter 1? Well, Chapter 2 is fresh out this week!

Sometimes in the annals of music history, there is a band with a long history of doing things their own way and defying all manner of convention. One of the bands in heavy metal that exemplifies that very ideal is Darkthrone, fresh off the release of their latest effort, "Circle the Wagons." I managed to steal a few minutes of Fenriz's time, and wanted to see what gives him the drive to go on. Read below to see his thoughts on his own band, metal as a genre, and naturally, cinema of all types, including horror. Enjoy!

Well, this sure is something. This is the first album review I’ve done in a while where that’s all I can come up with. Veteran duo Darkthrone’s new album “Circle the Wagons” is akin to listening to a random mash-up of the Misfits, GWAR and Venom. Although, it’s assembled out of pieces of those three, more than a proper accumulation of their talents.
