Horror Headlines: Tuesday, November 4th 2008

Malek Akkad announced this past weekend that there will be a theatrical sequel to Rob Zombie's "Halloween" remake. There were rumors a while back that Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, the Frenchie frogs behind "Inside" would be directing, but that info is nowhere in the official announcement so I'm going to wait before claiming that one as fact.

Warner Brothers is (once again) test screening Mike Doughterty's anthology film "Trick 'R Treat", which if I'm not mistaken is coming on over 2 years on the shelf. Man, if you pulled your head in and out of your ass that many times, do you think you'd ever be able to get the smell out?

"Freddy Vs. Jason Vs Ash 2", in comic book form, is currently in the works from the original writer of the mini-series. I never checked it out but I had read that it was based on what was supposed to be the script for the proposed film. Have any of you guys read it? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

"Creepshow: Raw" is an online series of 6-8 minute shorts based on the original "Creepshow", and directed by Wilmer Valderama. Here is the trailer. Valderama is "Fez" from "That 70's Show", and "douche" from "real life". Also of note, this is indeed being produced by the same people that raped Romero's original film with "Creepshow 3". If you're still reading, you have a stronger constitution than I do.

In Real People News:

Convicted felon shoots boy with AK-47 from behind door on Halloween. Police say he thought he was being robbed... by an 8 year old boy with a Halloween mask on. Not sure, but something sounds fishy about his story. Plus, is it even legal to own an AK-47?

Holy crap, real life "Maniac Cop"? Except MC is a fun B movie, and this is a horrific, hard to read story. Hey, just trying to take your mind off the election. Worked, didn't it?

Nazi graveyard discovered in Brazil. You see, after WWII a lot of Nazi's fled to South America from Germany to try and hide from war crimes charges. Some of them had attempted to organize a Nazi resurgence, but they were too distracted by umbrella drinks and hot asses.

On this day in history:

1986: The Iran-Contra Scandal is first reported in "Al Shiraa", an obscure Lebanese magazine. The public would come to learn that millions had been paid for US weapons and equipment for Iran in exchange for the release of American hostages in Lebanon. Profits were illegally channeled to the Contras fighting the Sandinista government in Nicaragua.
