Horror Headlines 8/27/08

I literally had not heard of this film "The Haunting of Molly Hartley" until Monday night when I went looking to fill out the Upcoming Movies page on the site. I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that it's a PG-13 movie about a teenage girl being haunted, and the poster looks like something straight out of the late 90's, floating heads and all. Much like "Twilight", you're going to have to look to the corporate shill sites for wall to wall coverage on this one from now on.

Bill Moseley has joined the cast of an untitled Twisted Pictures thriller being directed by Rob Lieberman. Moseley will be co-starring with Erica Christensen. First Paris Hilton and now her? Sounds like our man Bill is moving up in the world!

After Dark Horror Fest has released it's promotional poster for this year, and I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself. How these people are allowed to pollute theaters every year with the worst indie horror crap they can find is beyond me.

In Real People News:

Doctor is losing his license for letting a patient give him a blow job before giving her a nose job. I would think you would wait until after the nose job, but I guess I'm just practical like that.

San Fransisco man hits grandfather on the head with a hammer, doesn't get charged because he thought he had to go to the hospital before he could be admitted to a nursing home. A quick Google search could have cleared that up for him, but I'm guessing he's not the kind of guy to think things through like that.

A listeriosis outbreak has killed 26 people in Canada. The outbreak is being tied back to canned meat. Wait, isn't that all they eat up there? How will they subsist?

On this day in history:

1987: Jello Biafra's obscenity trial ends in Los Angeles, with the jury deadlocked 7-5 in favor of acquittal. Prosecutors had hoped to throw the Dead Kennedys singer in jail for including an H.R. Giger poster in the packaging of his band's latest album, Frankenchrist.
