Horror Headlines 3/19/08

Apparently Rosarion Dawson has co-written two comic books, called "True Believer" and "Occult Crimes Task Force" respectively. I guess you learn something new every day. The news today though is that she is working with Scifi channel to produce a pilot based on "True Believers". Also of note in the Scifi Press Release, one of my favorite shows "Scare Tactics" will be returning to the channel, with host TRACY MORGAN! That's right, goofy-ass Tracy Morgan of "30 Rock" and "SNL" fame. Sweet!

The official site for the "Prom Night" remake has gone live. You can find it at ANightToDieFor.com. And although I'm not in any way interested in the movie, I will say it's continued the trend of increasingly interactive official sites. Plus, there's a game for you to waste your time at work on.

Christian Bale has said in an interview that he would love to return for the "Batman" Trilogy ender, as long as Christopher Nolan is involved. And while we're on the subject, can we please stop all of the Katie Holmes bashing? She did exactly what she needed to in "The Dark Knight". Yes, she's married to the biggest cuckoo this side of a Cocoa Puffs box, but I don't see anything wrong with her performance. Maggie Gyllenhaal is hot in her own right and I'm sure will make the role hers. Rant over. This is getting more heated that that other race that seems to be going on at the moment.

Since this week will see the release of "Shutter", you can go over here and check some clips from the film. Still not excited? Well I'm holding on to my cautious optimism that this might be decent. We'll let you know this weekend.

In Real People News:

This is more of an anecdote than actual news, but I couldn't pass up telling you all the story of a hiker who chipped his way out of a snowy grave with chisel made out of his own shit. Yes, it's every bit as disgusting and amazing as you might imagine.

Investigators think they may have found some graves on an old piece of property where Charles Manson used to live, and wouldn't you know it they think old Charlie was involved. Leave it to Manson to unwittingly salvage some relevance after being relagated to an ironic image on a T-shirt. Do you think kids even know who this guy is? Or do they think he's just a variation on the Che Guevara T-shirt?

An Australian man has killed himself by building a robot and having it shoot him in the head. As tragic as the story is, you've got to admit that's pretty amazing. And, technically he didn't shoot himself, so could this really be considered suicide?

On this day in history:

1982: The guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoads, dies during the Diary of a Madman tour after the plane he is flying in buzzes the band's tour bus and clips the wing of the plane, crashing into a nearby farmhouse.
