Horror Headlines 1/25/08

"Rambo", the latest attempt for Sylvester Stallone to convince himself he's still relavent, opens today. Perhaps that means certain other horror sites will stop covering this movie as if it somehow fits into the genre. Sorry folks, but I've got to call bullshit when I see it.

Apparently someone has been whispering in Jason Statham's ear that
they're considering remaking "The Crow". That news in itself doesn't really bother me that much, but Statham also mentions in the interview that he would be interested in the lead role. Seriously, can you even picture him all gothed out? Me neither. Nothing is concrete, so if I hear anything else you'll be the first to know.

Dimension made a few announcements today worth noting for horror fans. Both the big budget remake of "Hellraiser", and Eli Roth's ridiculous vanity project "Trailer Trash" have been bumped from their 2008 release dates to undetermined dates in 2009. Speculation is that this is due to the writer's strike. Personally, I'm not that bothered by either announcement.

The release of the American remake of "The Eye" is exactly a week from today, and BD has 6 new clips for you to enjoy. And don't worry, I'm forcing everyone on the Podcast to go see it, so we can let you know if it's worth it or not. We're not above taking one for the team.

Apparently Sony heard us complaining about that ridiculous Cover art for their "April Fools" remake, because they've made a statement saying that that is NOT the official art. I'm not saying internet horror sites had something to do with this per say, but there was a unanimous hatred for it online, so it's not entirely implausible.

In Real People News:

Yesterday it was Big Foot on Mars, today, it's the Blob! Steve Mcqueen is dead, so my only other recommendation for someone to take care of this would be the Ghostbusters. Sure they're out of shape these days, but who else are you going to call?

A group of hackers with the terribly original name "Anonymous", have set up a project with the sole purpose of destroying Scientology. So far they've managed to annoy them a little, but the campaign seems to
be picking up steam. You can count me in, these wackos have gone unchallenged long enough.

On this day in history:

1947: The infamous mobster Al Capone dead in Florida, his mind in dementia from long untreated syphilis. Capone was imprisoned in Alcatraz for eight years of his eleven year sentence for tax evasion, but had to be released due to deteriorating health.
