Absolution for a Templar (video NSFW)

So it seems as if the ol' Knights Templar were not heinous devil worshipping bastards afterall. Those crusading guardians of the grail may have only had it in for Muslims and other communities opposed to the forced Christian colonization of Jerusalem.

Vote Open Source Comics into South By Southwest!

So here's the deal. I'm a thoroughly modern web guy. I go to monthly meetings of creatives and developers and the most recent meeting produced an idea between myself an a Rails developer that we think has some legs.

Apparently, so does the council in charge of choosing the panels for the next South By Southwest show. If you're just joining us, South By Southwest is an annual showcase of music, movies and interactive design. It started as the Austin Battle of the Bands and somehow grew to become some kind of monstrous industry showcase.

"House of the Dead" is back, and Grindhouse-y!

Before you go running of the nearest bridge, I'm talking about the GAME "House of the Dead" and not the film. Turns out the ball is now rolling on "Wii Violence" movement, which you know, is ok by me. Despite my giggles over this trailer, I don't think it's the best marketing strategy to make your in-game footage look as shitty as possible. Either way, I'm sure I'll have a Wii by then so I'll have to give "House of the Dead: Overkill" the old sporting go-around.

Note: NSFW if you work at a church. There are scantily clad ladies swinging around poles!

Box Office Special - Questionable Reflection

Alexandre Aja's directorial follow-up to "The Hills Have Eyes", received a lukewarm reception at the box office this weekend. In bringing in just over $11 million, "Mirrors" produced on par with some of this year's previous middling horror releases. While it outdrew films like "Shutter" and "The Ruins", it came in behind January's "Untraceable".

It was almost 3 years ago that I decided to plunk down $20 on a copy of Loudres Grobet's Lucha Libre: The Masked Stars of Mexican Wrestling on Amazon to continue exploring my love of Lucha culture.

Starship Troopers 3 Marauder: I kill bugs for the Lord!

STARSHIP TROOPERS 3: MARAUDER
Starring Casper Van Dien, Jolene Blalock, Amanda Donohoe
Directed by Ed Neumeier
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment

Even though I was a huge fan of the original STARSHIP TROOPERS, I never saw the first direct-to-video sequel, mostly because of the lack of Casper Van Dien. Sorry, but if even Van Dien (AKA the greatest straight-to-video actor of our time) passes on a script, chances are its not worth wasting your time on—am I right MEGGIDO: OMEGA CODE 2?

In this week's episode we take a look at the Irish zombie flick "Boy Eats Girl" and then follow it up with the action monster flick "Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior".

Two shall enter, only one shall leave! Find out which in Midnight Muenster #11!

The World of Pirate DVDs

Over the last few years I've had the chance to travel to a few places around the world and in some countries I've encountered a horror far beyond anything in the movies we talk about on this site. It's a act so vile, so unspeakably foul that it could deprive an underprivileged studio executive of the basic human right of driving a Bentley. I speak, of course, of pirated DVDs. Let this be a warning to you all.
