20th Century Fox is starting its prep-work for a surprise prequel, "Planet of the Apes: Caesar". Planned to be attached to the Tim Burton remake, the new film will be directed by Rupert Wyatt.

Somebody needs to check Lloyd Kauffman to make sure he hasn't dropped dead from sheer happiness. Dutch TV giant Endemol has acquired the rights to the Toxic Avenger. They have planned a staggering four films, an animated TV series and comic books as well as they prepare to relaunch Toxie as a new 'green' super hero for today's environmentally conscious world.

The big screen adaptation of video game hit Gears of War hits development snags. With the budget cuts and Len Wiseman leaving the team, the writers are now reshaping the film's plot for something more mundane.

AMC's "The Walking Dead" has found its leading man as they have cast Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes. Hailing from the UK, you may recognize Lincoln from his roles in "Love Actually" or the series "Strike Back". Or, you may be like me and never heard of him at all! That's not a bad thing though.

These new production stills from "A Nightmare on Elm Street" would lead us to believe that the movie could be good and gory. We'll have to wait until April 30th to see if this promise rings true.

In a recent interview, Lloyd Kaufman lets slip that there are a number of Troma movies in talks for possible remakes including "Poultrygeist" and "Class of Nuke 'Em High". One would normally take news like this from Lloyd with a grain of salt, but the "Mother's Day" remake has already wrapped and "The Toxic Avenger" is in talks, so stranger things have happened!

Not to let Sam Worthington steal all the godly thunder, Stephen Dorff has signed on to "War of the Gods", another Greek monster fighting montage.

Though we have yet to lay eyes on any of her genre rolls yet, young actress Chloe Moretz has signed on for the serial killer opus "The Fields". With her upcoming turns as our fanged lead in the upcoming remake "Let Me In" and her ass kicking antics in "Kick-Ass", she sure seems to enjoy the genre work.

In Real People News:

21 dead babies have been found under a bridge in Jinning City, China. Sadly, all signs point to underhanded tactics by a local hospital as 8 of the infants had labels complete with biohazard bags showing their treatments and time of death.

Heartbroken after hearing his ex was going to marry another man, a young man in Central Java hacks off his own penis to show how he felt about the news. To further drive the point home, he then threw his junk down a local well.

Troma Goes Digital

Troma Studios has announced that it is entering the digital download arena by making many of their classic and out of print movies available for digital download through the Troma store.

Recently my wife and I complained to our landlord so much about how loud our neighbors were that he finally got fed up and let us switch to a different apartment for free. Hell hath no furry like my wife when she's pissed off. But I can't imagine the random blasting of Lisa Loeb we heard was half as bad as what the people who live next to Jamie Grecco have to put up with.

Another sure sign of the apocalypse? Uwe Boll is about to start shooting "Bloodrayne 3: Warhammer".

Stills from "Piranha 2". If you want my advice, stop after the bikini one, because the next shot is a dried up old Richard Dreyfuss. That won't be good for anyone.

Stop the presses, it's time for "The Toxic Avenger 5: The Toxic Twins". Ok, it's only a promo poster that debuted at this week's American Film Market, but it means that development has come along farther than it has in a long while. Lloyd Kaufman is attached to direct (as usual). That just made my week.

Lloyd Kaufman, founder of Troma studios and director of such seminal classics as "The Toxic Avenger" and "Poultrygeist", has long been a supporter of the internet, and even the downloading of his own films. The way he sees it, his company is often "blacklisted" (his words) from major chain stores because of their controversial films, so if a kid in Illinois finds out about Troma by downloading his latest picture, that's ultimately a win in his eyes.
