Aliens are sucking people into the sky, while this movie is sucks the intelligence from your brain.

This week after a long run of theatrical releases the gang finally gets to stay at home and check out Gareth Edwards' “Monsters”. Despite a decent amount of buzz around this one I still have no idea what it’s about. To be honest even after reading the description I’m still a little clueless. I pray actually watching the movie will resolve this. If not it’s going to be an interesting discussion. Synopsis and trailer after the jump.

In today's age when zombies are more embedded in pop culture than perhaps ever, it is only natural that filmmakers are now trying to change up the formula a bit. It's an admirable venture, but often hard to execute. In "Evilution", this change-up comes from alien intelligence being the vector that brings the dead to life. The upshot is that with this alien background comes new ways to try and kill the undead. All of it comes full circle in this shoddy take of what is surprisingly not a Syfy Original feature.

Richard Kelly's "The Box" has been pushed back a week to November 6th, 2009. The studio is continuing their trend of treating this film like a dirty whore, so I wouldn't set your heart on a release date until you're actually sitting in a seat.

Well luckily Edgar Mitchell who was part of the 1971 Apollo 14 moon mission is taking enough crazy pills to keep the entire NASA program hopped up.

For my money, it's best to do as much as possible practically.

So what were the origins of "Alien Raiders"?

It was actually an idea of Dan Myrick's. His idea was to set something fantastic and grandiose like an alien invasion film in the most mundane place of all - a supermarket. The title at the time was actually "Supermarket".

When I was a kid I use to sit and think about what would happen if some of my heroes battled it out for world domination. A few years back I got the answer when “Freddy Vs. Jason” came out. But now the question that has been on everyone's mind since the dawn of the cold war will finally be answered. What would happen if Stalin had to battle aliens? Ladies and gentlemen I present to you the first release by independent publishing label Mezmer Games, “Stalin vs. Martians”.
