Snapshots: You can't kill Eli Roth

Love him or hate him, Eli Roth is here to stay. Here he is taking on the lead role in the next "Eli Roth Presents" line of films titled "Aftershock", a post-earthquake thriller currently being shot in Chile by an up and coming Chilean director. No release date has been set, but after "The Last Exorcism" I'm willing to entertain whatever type of premise Roth chooses to throw at me.

Videos: Twisted Metal is back, as are live-action cut scenes

One of the best things about the original Twisted Metal game for Playstation were the unbelievably bizarre, live-action endings, where some poor actor who couldn't land a gig had to dress up like Sweettooth to act out his fate. They were a staple 90's gaming, and I've noticed they're coming back more and more in modern games. Here's a Valentine's Day themed video from the TM team and if you look closely, you'll see some live-action stuff sprinkled in there. For you lucky PS3 owners out there, this one's available now.

Trailers: "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" has one now

All my comments from my earlier post still stand. Schnaars is going to hate this so much, I can't wait.

First look at "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", IN SLOW MOTION

Can we just take a moment together to recognize the absurdity of this CBS This Morning piece? Only they could turn a movie about Lincoln hunting vampires into a stodgy interview with a historian. And yet, I still love it. Did you know they still have Lincoln's hat in a vault somewhere? Man, history is neat.

Anyway, there's a bunch of footage sprinkled throughout and I'm happy to say it features gratuitous slow motion, almost exclusively. Fox is aiming for a June release at this point. If they don't lock that down soon my head might explode.

Snapshots: Just what I need, more Jason...

Thanks NECA, I was just thinking I needed more ways to convince my co-workers I'm a creepy weirdo. Now you give me this. Clearly I have no choice... This replica from "The Final Chapter" just debuted at the Toy Fair, so it's not on store shelves yet. Be patient my friend, be patient...

Trailers: "Beyond the Black Rainbow", so retro it hurts

YES. Yes to all of this...

What we're watching this weekend, Schnaars is everywhere edition

It's been said that I see fellow podcaster Jon Schnaars' face everywhere. I'm convinced the guy who played Bucky in "Captain America" looks just like him (the same guy who played Blane in "Hot Tub Time Machine"). The lead actor in "Troll Hunter" also bears more than a striking resemblance, as does the lead in this week's podcast subject, "Chronicle". What can I say, the man has a magical, universally WASP-y mug. Come to a Horror Hound Weekend sometime, you'll see what I mean.

Trailers: "Ringu" is back, J-Horror cycle will never die

I always thought the American remake of "Ringu" was the better film when compared to the original. It's an opinion I realize isn't widely shared in the greater horror community, but then again, being a contrarian is kind of my thing, I'm ok with it. Anyway, Japan has decided to resurrect the series with "Sadako 3D", named after the original film's antagonist. She was by far the scariest thing about that original, so let's hope they bring back the original actress. I didn't feeling like sifting through terrible Babelfish translations all day to find out if they did.

Gaming: "Lollipop Chainsaw" gets even weirder

This game just keeps getting weirder and weirder, but I suppose I should expect nothing less from James Gunn. Here's a little Valentine's themed trailer they put together to promote its release, which is still slated only for sometime in "2012". My biggest question right now? Whether it will be a full box release or only downloadable...

Snapshots: "Evidence", they've got my number...

"Evidence" is an indie found footage type deal that hits DVD March 12th. Sometimes I feel like I'm on a PR list somewhere with the descriptor "will watch anything that even resembles found footage". I'm being exploited here, people. Anyway, ya, I want to watch this...
