Podcast downloading issues

The Podcast downloads are being especially squirrely today, so I just wanted to post to say that I'm aware of it. After Mark gets back from tour next week it will be first on his list of things to fix, so just hang in there for a few more weeks.

In the meantime, the full download should run about 1:30. If you're having troubles, I'd suggest waiting until tomorrow, Tuesday seems to be the sort of "Magic" day to download.

Old Man Jumps Through Beer Pong Table (and 10 more ways to celebrate Memorial Day)

I was inspired to write this post after seeing a video of an old man jumping through a beer pong table on Deadspin.com yesterday.

Teen Wolf Too (Or, How My Soul Died a Little Today)

You ever had one of those days when it seems like nothing is going right? When you're just feeling dejected, laying on the couch with the remote, doing your damdest to pass the time without incident? Well, today was turning out to be one of those days, when I stumbled upon "Teen Wolf Too" on TV.

Tropic Thunder (Black Robert Downey Jr. is My Hero)

After seeing "Iron Man" a few weeks back, this has officially become my "summer of the Robert Downey Jr. man-crush". So you can imagine my excitement when I first saw the trailer for "Tropic Thunder".

The film centers on three movie stars, played by Downey, Ben Stiller and Jack Black, who are filming a war movie in Vietnam when things go hilariously (and offensively) awry, turning the shoot into a life and death situation. Oh, and did I mention that Downey has had surgery to make himself black so he can play the grizzled black Commander? Well, now I have.

Having issues downloading the show this week? (UPDATED)

UPDATED - You may notice a new version of Episode 26 showing up in your Itunes. There was about 2-3 minutes of audio missing so I fixed the edit and re-uploaded it. It's not a huge deal either way, but I feel better after fixing it.

I've talked to a few people and I'm aware that Podomatic keeps cutting off downloads of the show again this week.

Is "The Strangers" a remake of "Them" (Ils)?

So next week on our podcast we're going to be talking about the French film "Them" (aka "Ils"). Some have claimed that the upcoming US release of "The Strangers" is an unofficial remake (read: ripoff), so we thought now was the perfect time to explore the issue.

So, take a look at these two trailers and see what you think. They're admittedly similar, but I have to say that the home invasion story isn't exactly new territory when it comes to horror films. I mean hell, they could both be ripping off "When a Stranger Calls" for all we know.

Preview: Escape from Stalag 69

As a horror fan and a history buff, I have always been fascinated by the Nazi-sploitation subgenre. It's understandable - with all of the nasty things that happened inside Germany during the second World War - that people have always had a lurid fascination with the Third Reich. That same fascination even spawned an entire sub-genre of horror/exploitation films during the 70's and 80's, appropriately called "Nazi-sploitation".

Thoughts on Iron Man and Super Heroes

I saw "Iron Man" this morning at a matinée showing, and for the sake of catharsis I just wanted to blurt out a few thoughts here on my blog. I'd love to hear what you guys think if you want to leave your own thoughts in the comments.

No Show This Week

The crew is taking the week off to recharge a bit so in our absence, I thought I'd compile this handy dandy guide to exploring back episodes. It's not all inclusive but it's a great place to start if you're new to the show. So, relax, listen, and enjoy!
