Eric N's blog

Poster: "Badass", why bother?

So they took "Epic Beard Man" (google it, trust me) and turned it into a movie with Danny Trejo. Except now he's more of an all around do-gooder as opposed to an unhinged, possibly racist Santa impersonator that can throw a haymaker like nobody's business. Just like Hollywood, always dumbing it down for the masses...

Indie Trailers: "Heretic" is a drinker

One time I had to go on a religious retreat in high school, and listen to a Priest give a talk about how he's an alcoholic who used to steal wine from communion... then he started talking about masturbation and how it's wrong. I don't remember what the point is but "Heretic" is a movie with a priest who may or may not have done some bad stuff... much like the priest from my story. There it is.

Snapshots: I just remembered "Boglins" existed...

Something jogged a long dormant memory of these 80's toys for me this weekend, and my brain nearly exploded with nostalgia. Kudos to podcast co-host Mark for conjuring up the name, all I could remember was that they smelled like crap.

What we're watching this weekend: Dispatches from podcast land

You may be wondering why you can no longer access "BGH Classics" - where we sold back episodes of the show for 99 cents - on the site any more. Well, we caught wind that the service we were using was not going to be available for much longer, so our fancy business guy Jon had to take time to do some research and find a new outlet to make that stuff available. He did eventually find one, but we're still in the process of re-uploading and organizing everything. My guess is in the next week or two, BGH Classics will be made available to the masses once again.

Snapshots: "Piranha 3DD" still happening

Remind me how many D's this movie has again?

Trailers: "Break" is the German version of "rednecks in the woods"

I've seen this movie probably 50 times, the old "rednecks hunt innocent city folk in the woods" thing, but never from a German production company.

I read an interesting article once about the German people's obsession with crap. Like, poop-crap. Apparently their cultural lore and sayings are riddled with references to poop, both in positive and negative ways. Not sure what that says but ya, 99% sure there's going to be some poop in this movie. So there's that.

Posters: "Mother's Day" has one, street date

We checked out Darren Lynn Bousman's "Mother's Day" (a remake of the "classic" Troma film) a few months back on the podcast and the response, for the most part, was "thumbs up". Your chance to see it comes on May 8th when it hits DVD. The cover art goes full "Rebecca De Mornay", and frankly makes it look like a Lifetime movie. Trust us, it's not. (click to enhance)

Trailers: "Devil in My Ride" sprang from my brain

I have literally wanted this to happen at every wedding I've ever been to. Sid Haig usually isn't there, but I agree with the filmmakers that it makes the fantasy even better. "Devil in My Ride" is hitting the festival circuit this summer.

Trailers: "Inbreds" looks Britishy

Not sure if the fact that this is British is enough to make up for the fact that I've seen this movie a few dozen times by other names. Still, the trailer had me by the end. No solid release info yet but "Inbred" is a current selection at the UK's annual Fright Fest.

Trailers: "Camel Spiders" will haunt your dreams

Camel Spiders are the most terrifying things on earth... that's a fact. I doubt the movie "Camel Spiders" will be nearly as scary as the real thing, but it sure looks like damn fun. Unlike clicking on that Google link in the first sentence. That will ruin your day real quick.
