30 Terrible Sci-fi Choices
Submitted by Christine on Mon, 08/18/2008 - 19:41.
Yahoo users must be idiots. I just had to share my disgust, rage, exasperation and general distaste for this list.
30 Top-rated Sci-fi Films? I think not! Click through and join my rant. I just want to know where "Total Recall" is.

Wow thats one really strange
Wow thats one really strange list, I mean why is Spiderman on it? And the greatest sci-fi film of all time is Iron Man???? This seems like someones just got a list of 30 movies and jumbled them up to make a 'top' list.

Whoa
that list is a whole new plateau in the dumbshit desert.
Listmania!
Yeah, one of the reasons I don't post Top X Lists over at my own site is because of this sort of thing. As genre specialists, we collaborate and talk these lists out. There are conventions that we understand, movies that have a place in genre history that we can all agree upon but when you set the dogs on it you're going to get a Top X of the last two or three years because most theater goers don't really give a shit. I'll have to see if I can put together a top 30 Sci Fi list just to spite this one.
What a piece of shit.
All I know is...
It can't be a top 30 sci-fi list without Day the Earth Stood Still in the top 5! Sheesh!
I'm with Bryan though. Most of the time, these lists are spit out by non genre aficionado's just to help conjure up arguments and attention where as us genre folks, we generally tend to talk them out and offer mutual respect instead of 'ZOMG BEST EVAR!'
And "Iron Man" at #1? It was a damn good flick, but come on....
Wait...
X-Men 2 didn't make the list? WTF
Who wants to compile a list
Who wants to compile a list of the 10 worst lists?!
"Definitive" lists like this are always bullshit. Anytime we've done a list type thing here, we keep all of our lists separate, mostly because I would be eviscerated if I tried to get "Lep in the Hood" on a site wide top slashers list. Film, music, videogames, whatever; the "best" of anything couldn't be more subjective. Also, the nerdier you get with the subject, the more likely the list will be nonsense because personal favoritism clouds judgment in the same way that it causes the dweeb vein in all of our heads to pop out when we find lists like this.
What the hell?
Half that list were comic book movies, when was V for Vendetta Sci-fi? I think their criteria was "If there's someone with a lab coat or they are in a lab during the movie then it's Sci-fi".
Then again it's Yahoo! and it's based off of viewer rated results so that explains the retarded (oops I'm not supposed to say that)..uh..messed up results. That's one of the more asinine lists I've seen so far.

Yahoo lists always suck
and I think they do it on purpose just to get a reaction from the dumbed-downed public.
If they would stop posting comments, the lists would go away.
