"Bitch Slap" and a "Grindhouse" Rehash

As I lazily surfed the interweb today I happened across a film called "Bitch Slap". This is the first I'm hearing of it. What caught my eye was, aside from the goofy title, the tight poster art. Click to view more pics etc.

Is it possible that this film could successfully pay homage to exploitation genre? I'm sad to say my hopes aren't too high. A good exploitation film seems like a simple formula. I suppose for the most part it is. I also think it's super easy to screw up.

That being said, I read the following in my quest for "Bitch Slap" info:

"...half of which was a blast (Robert Rodriguez’ Planet Terror) and half of which was one of the most awful, terrible movie experiences I’ve ever had the displeasure to sit through (Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof)."

The rest can be seen here . Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I have heard a lot of bad things in regards to the "Death Proof" portion of "Grindhouse". I personally loved it. I think it's the better of the 2 offerings. I just can't fathom anyone hating it so venomously.

Death Proof

The car chase was pretty sweet, but the rest of the film was inconsequential to that. It was just an hour of pointless Tarantino dialogue, delivered badly by a bunch of really annoying female characters. I guess it's possible that for a woman it would be easier to sit through, but I found it almost unbearable.

Plus, I have major issues as it is with the fact that both were full length films. Each should have been 45 minutes and it should have been more of an anthology film than a full fledged double feature.

Thank god Im not the only

Thank god Im not the only one who was bored shitless by Death Proof. Of people Ive spoke to about Grindhouse, most of them prefer it to Planet Terror, which I've never understood. It was hard enough sitting through all the dialogue before the first kill, but then to have to basically repeat the entire process was painful.

I own "Planet Terror" on DVD

I own "Planet Terror" on DVD but could not bring myself to buy "Death Proof". That was so hard to sit though once in the theater I couldn't do it again, and I've heard that the DVD has even more dialog that was cut from the film in the first place-!! It was like an hour and a half long tampon comercial with a really good car chase-!!

Aim for the head-!!
